WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- A man wanted for auto burglary in West Point is in police custody Saturday night.
Police Chief Avery Cook says 22-year-old Demarcus White Turned himself in this afternoon.
Police have been looking for him since Thursday when he was reportedly spotted trying to break into a car at South Side Elementary. The school’s resource officer chased him and suffered a broken arm.
The incident prompted school officials to place the school under a lockout for several hours.
White is charged with four counts of auto burglary and simple assault on a police officer. He’s being held in the Clay County Jail. Bond has not been set.
WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – West Point Police Department is searching for an aggravated assault suspect.
Timothy Birchfield, 52, of West Point, is wanted for an assault that happened at Quick and Easy Deli on September 7.
Birchfield’s last known address was on Grove Street.

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A second arrest has been made after a viral video showed several young men fighting in Starkville last weekend.
Dakota Husser, 23, of Biloxi, was charged with simple assault.
Starkville Police Department said his arrest stemmed from the fight that happened early Sunday morning on the front lawn of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Starkville’s Cotton District.
The fight captured on video remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.
TISHOMINGO COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A joint investigation between the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics has led to 12 drug arrests over the past few weeks.
Aimee Lewis, 47, of Iuka was charged with sale of a controlled substance.

Johnathan Durham, 39, of Iuka, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) with intent to sell.

William Franks, 37, of Cherokee, Alabama, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Franks is currently in the custody of Colbert County, Alabama Sheriff’s Department on an unrelated charge.
Belmont Police Department, Iuka Police Department and Burnsville Police Department also helped in the investigation.
More arrests are expected as the investigation is ongoing to help stop the selling of illegal drugs in the county.
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Two men accused of instigating a fight captured on video in Starkville’s Cotton District have been arrested.
Harrison Porter 22, and Stephen Jernigan II, 22, were both charged with simple assault.
Porter was also charged with simple assault stemming from an incident on September 23, 2018. He is accused of assaulting a 53-year-old man on University Drive.
According to Starkville PD, the pair instigated the fight by verbally assaulting an intoxicated female.
The video of the fight on University Drive early last Sunday morning was captured in a now-viral video.
The fight remains under investigation and more arrests are expected.
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)- An hours long stand off in Tupelo.
Police were called to the Westwood Apartments for a reported domestic dispute on Lumpkin Street around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
When officers got there, police say the suspect took four family members, including a baby, hostage.
Tupelo’s hostage negotiator arrived, and began talking with the suspect, who released all of his family members. However, the suspect refused to come out.
Police evacuated the entire apartment complex as a precaution while negotiations continued/
The suspect surrendered peacefully around 7:30 Wednesday evening and was arrested.
He could face domestic violence and kidnapping charges.
More details are expected to be released Thursday.
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help finding two people wanted in connection to a stolen dump trailer.
Courtney Thompson, 38, and Brian Baughman, 42, may be driving a black Chevrolet Tahoe. The car has Monroe County Tags with the license plate number MIB3358.
The trailer was reported stolen from the City of Columbus, and has since been found on Blaylock Road in Lowndes County.
Anyone who has information on the duo’s location is asked to call Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers.
STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – A fifth arrest was made in connection to a violent fight last weekend in Starkville.
Police arrested Elijah Nelson, 21, of Biloxi. He’s charged with simple assault.
A fight early Sunday morning happened in the Cotton District. Police have arrested who they believe were the instigators of the fight earlier this week.
Police said the large brawl started after two men allegedly verbally assaulted a female.
The fight was caught on video and circulated all over social media.
Police ask anyone with information on the fight to give them a call.
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A West Point man was found hiding in a cotton field, after leading police on high speed chase throughout Alabama and Mississippi.
Jason Eugene Hargove faces several charges including reckless driving, resisting arrest, and possession of a stolen vehicle.
Investigators with the Vernon Police Department and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office said they were trying to pull over Hargrove on Highway 50, but he wouldn’t stop. They then notified Lowndes County deputies that a pursuit was entering into their county.
The 42-year-old was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion that investigators said was reported stolen out of Carroll County, Mississippi.
Lowndes County deputies set up spike strips, eventually disabling Hargrove’s car. Deputies said the suspect then fled on foot, and was found hiding in a cotton field.
CHOCTAW COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An Choctaw County man will be arraigned Thursday on federal pornography charges.
Russell Latham, 28, of Ackerman, faces a federal indictment for possession of child pornography.
Court records showed agents seized a computer from Latham in January which had a series of pictures and videos of minors having sex or posing for explicit pictures.
The indictment said some of the victims in the pictures are under 12.
Bond for Latham was set at $5,000 during a Tuesday initial appearance.
LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Lowndes County mother was accused of going to work out-of-state and leaving her kids at home alone.
Priscilla Koger, 25, was charged with two counts of child deprivation.
Lowndes County deputies were called to a West Lodge Street home, in Crawford, this past Sunday.
Investigators learned the three-year-old and nine-year-old had been home alone since Thursday, September, 12. Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
