LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A naked child was found walking down a Lowndes County road at two in the morning.

Two people have been charged with felony child deprivation.

Alejandro Martinez, 31, and Britney Brooks, 26, both faced four counts.

Brooks, who is the mother of the children, has been released on bond.

Martinez has a hold placed on him by Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He remains in jail.

The child was found on Robin Circle on July 5th but lived at 1303 Hughes Road.

That’s where deputies found an open door to a home and Martinez told them the child lived there.

Investigators told WCBI there were four children living there, ages 5, 10, 2, and 1.

Deputies said it’s one of the most disgusting scenes they’ve ever come across.

“The deputies gained entrance into the house. The home was in, as they put it, deplorable conditions. Based on the photographs I’ve seen, it reminds me of a trash dump,” said Lowndes County chief deputy Greg Wright.

At the hospital, deputies said the children were non-verbal and showed signs of neglect.

One child had a severe rash. Another had poor dental hygiene and a third child had difficulty keeping clothes on.

Child Protective Services has taken custody of the children.
